{Repurpose} T-shirt to Pillowcase

cardinals pillow
Don’t you love when you buy things that you can use for more than one reason?  I know I do!

Years ago I bought a child’s size t-shirt for myself.  After several washes, the shirt has shrunk and is an awkward-fitting-kind-of-short!  I hated to get rid of the shirt and knew I wanted to re-use it in the house somehow.

When we bought our couches back when we first moved into our house, they came with EIGHT pillows.  What was I going to do with eight pillows on my sofa?  Again, I didn’t want to get rid of any of the pillows.  I wanted to use them in different parts of the house.

This is where the shirt meets the pillow…..

  • I cut the neckline and the sleeves off the shirt.
  • Then, cut up both sides so there was a front and back.
  • I cut about one inch strips all the way around and tied them together (I chose this method because sadly I don’t know how to sew and it was kinda the look I was going for anyways)

And, BAM, this project took me about 20 minutes to complete!

Have you repurposed anything in your house lately?

Love this!! Super cute. Now I know what to do with all of those kids’ t-shirts we have laying around. :-)

Laurie, thank you!! I have seen people on Pinterest make cute quilts out of their kids’ t-shirts, too. :)
